Hi everyone. I'm still on vacation. Camping. **bone wracking shudders** Here's hoping we all survive. So until I return, I'm leaving you with a rerun from 2010 which asks the question:
Tell Me Which You Would - The Bad or the Good?
How did it get to be Friday already? I'm having trouble getting that little factoid into my brain. I finished my dreaded synopsis of Shifting Her World. Thank you for all your help Misty and Natalie! You know I've had a pretty good writing week if there aren't many posts. Anywho, check out this video. It got me to a-wonderin'.
I loved this commercial when it came out back in the day, mainly for the Van Halen. Yet it was funny, too, and G.I. Joe completely out-cooled Ken.
But here's what I wondered. The Bad Boy. Do you prefer the Bad Boy(or Girl) Hero or the Good Guy(or girl) Hero? I'm split. I write both. I enjoy reading both if they're well rounded. But deep down I think if I was held over a pit of bubbling tar and told to choose, I would go with the good guy. But only if placed under some such duress. (Molten lava would get me to sing on this topic as well.)
So which type of hero would be your favorite as you dangle precariously over the pit? And, remember, this is for posterity, so be honest.
A Sign That I'm Really Back

Depends on the setting I guess at my sea. That answer not good enough? lol
I had to check to see if I had answered this question back in 2010...and if I still thought the same.
I did, and I do.
Bad boys. I'm a sucker for a snarky one-liner.
I enjoy seeing bad boys redeem themselves, but deep down, I know that's not likely in real life. I prefer the good guy.
Of course, there's the *supposed* bad guy who really isn't a bad guy at all; he just lets people think that until the heroine finds out the true story. ;)
I love the reformed bad boy when reading or in other media.
Camping? Hope your weather stays nice.
Why are the bad guys so attractive to us? I would want to choose the bad guy, but only if I knew he was really a good guy who had the bad guy image because he was misunderstood . . . by everyone except me, of course. Because then he would really be the good guy but with the inevitable bad guy hot looks. Right?
Ack. Better you than me! I am SO not a camper. I quit girl scouts because they made up go camping much to the horror of my mama who was in them all growing up and loves the outdoors. lol Hope it's not too terribly awful!
I like the moral, considerate bad boys--like my husband. He'll scare the crap out of me, be creepy, and adventurous, but he won't take advantage of innocents and he'll fight for the underdog.
Any post that includes Barbie, Ken, GI Joe, AND the Princess Bride has to automatically go on my favorites list :)
That commercial IS awesome! And way before Toy Story, too. But yeah, I'm with you - bad boys/girls are great for flings and adventures, but when it comes down to it, I'm going to end up with the good one instead.
LOL. I've always gone for the good guy. The bad boy just didn't have that much appeal. Sure, the look, maybe, but not the personality or addictions or behavior.
It's the good guy for me - but they have to have a naughty streak ;-)
When I was a romance writer/reader, I always liked what they call the "beta male"--the nice guy. Although not TOO nice. They're never too nice! I just found guys who were too overly bad boyish to be over-the-top.
Bad guys are interesting, but in the end, I'd go with the good one.
@Pat- Lol! Good enough!
@MJ- Glad you're so consistent!
@Melissa- Absolutely!
@Sue- We only had rain two days.
@Lynda- Sooooo right!
@Anna- LOL! It wasn't too terribly awful and I survived and will tell the tale later.
@Loni- Now there's a bad boy I can appreciate!
@Liz- lol! Thanks! Glad we agree!
@Crystal- I hear ya!
@Annalisa- All right!!
@Stephanie- I can totally get behind a beta!
@Sherry- Agreed!!
