Welcome To Club Earth

So The Man, the Urchins and I visited some beautiful local caverns recently. We, of course, hit the gift shop-- where we saw this display.

Didn't know there was a membership, though I should have suspected since I've been paying dues.
Apparently this club has an agenda.

And probably a manifesto. A long one.

So the Urchins and The Man are all home for the summer and there are many distractions.

I'm getting scary-obsessive with finishing my edits, and I'm finding things out about myself as I do. Not much of it good. (I never knew I was prone to wild mood swings and such violent thoughts.) Considering I'm all paid up with my Club Earth dues, here's hoping everyone survives.

So what are you doing this summer? Any crazy editing induced violence/craziness you'd like to share? I'm all ears. (said like Dolf in that Van Damme movie.)

LOL. Now I'm going to thinking about that manifesto all day now. I think I'm paid up to.

Pat Hatt said...

LOL I never paid, they will have to hunt me down.

Julie Flanders said...

I'm not paid up so I'm totally screwed.

OOoo edits would make me twitchy! I've got absolutely nada happening in the excitement category. Cleaning and organizing the house and trying to get the blog all pre-scheduled for the next few months. Whew!

Dues...rats, better add that to the list! Am hoping that inspiration to get things done will align at some point with time to do such things!

I think all writers have the tendencies to get crazy obsessive when they are editing. We should wear warning signs. ;)

They may try to use those puny weapons against me, but they can't beat my mad ninja skills.

I'm all about editing recently. Thankfully, I'm almost done.

Lots of weapons at Club Earth!

I need to do editing. I've been procrastinating. Bad me!

@Sue- good thing you're paid up. Since you're a member, I'd bet a copy of that manifesto was provided for you. lol!

@Pat- And they've got the tools to do it! lol!

@Julie- Seriously screwed! lol!

@Anna- That's a lot more than nada on your plate, girl!

@Andrea- good luck with that. I never achieve that sort of nirvana at Chez Quinn.

@Chrys- Good idea. Mine will say Warning, editor under pressure. What about you? lol?

@Loni- Mad ninja skills will get you far. I'm jealous you're almost done!

@Sherry- Wish I were procrastinating more than I am! lol.

I get crazed when I'm doing edits, but I'm an editor, not a writer. I always feel like I should be working whenever I have the free moments because I hate to keep people waiting. When I'm focused, even the most normal thing is an intrusion on my editing time. ("What? You people want supper? Again? That's two days in a row!")

*LOL* What out for Club Earth! Lots of distractions during the summer for me too. I have edits to do and a new novella to write, but I no longer have my morning writing time.

Here's hoping you get through the edits. Do you like to drink tea of coffee when you work? I love a nice big cup of something yummy, sitting either at my writing desk or our little outside cafe table, and having at my work.

Cheers and boogie boogie.

I'm shocked that "Club Earth" is about guns and not some environmental wildlife fund. :O

I'm having the same edit problems as you. I've been mired in one hellish chapter for over two weeks. I feel like I'll never get this WIP done. But if I had guns from CE, I'd be more likely to shoot myself than anyone else. :P

You'd think Club Earth would have gorillas not guerillas! Yikes.

I'm hoping for some major editing time too. Here's wishing us luck!

Kim Van Sickler said...

That Club Earth was for the predators. Exercise is a great way to diffuse those mood swings and break up the long computer sessions. I would go insane without my workouts. INSANE. Good luck!

I am in the process of edits, too, and they are making me crazy. Turns out editing is not my favorite part of this process.

Joylene Nowell Butler said...

Violent thoughts, eh? Me, too. I think it has something to do with the influence of our characters. I guess we better treat them well. I'm finishing up an old WIP and looking for a new publisher/agent. Happy Weekend, Ava!

Those pics are LOL funny. I hope they charge space aliens more for a membership. The club is already crowded.

I pay taxes - hope those qualify as dues for Planet Earth.
Been editing. Enjoy it though. Yeah, I'm weird...

Great line about paying your dues at Club Earth! I definitely can relate to the wild mood swings. A change of scenery usually helps, followed by a Starbucks or Dairy Queen run! Good luck with your editing.

Ah yes, editing does sometimes have that effect... ;)
Best wishes for survival!

Editing will bring out the worst in us, won't it? It brings out my house-cleaning side--which doesn't exist otherwise. Procrastination!!!

Carol Kilgore said...

I can't tell you about the crazy editing incident. I'm sworn to secrecy :)

Enjoy the summer!

I haven't paid my dues. I think my bill was lost in the mail, or in this case email to save the paper.

Yep, editing away over at my corner of the world too. My first round is almost done. I've learned I can make it fun but it takes the right mindset. It's easy for me to slip into the "holy crap, I'm overwhelmed" if I'm not careful. Hope your editing goes well.

LOL. Now I want to go paint balling. I wonder if we could cover the inside of my place in tarps and hold a tournament here?

Liz Blocker said...

Erm, why exactly would Club Earth have THAT agenda? Seems like a mission mismatch, eh? I see the name and the logo, and I think hippies and environmental activists...just saying...

Ava Quinn said...

@Lynda-Yes, those pesky people who keep wanting to be fed! Will it never end? lol!

@Christine Rains- Sorry you've lost (or misplaced? lol) your morning writing time!

@The Happy Whisk- That sounds heavenly, but I actually can't stand either tea or coffee. (I'm one of those!)

@Lexa- Hope your edits have smoothed out!

@Jemi- Gorillas v. guerrillas! LOL! Awesome! Hope your edits are going well!

@Kim Van Sickler- You're a better woman than I! I don't think I've exercised since the 80's!

@Robin- Good luck with your edits!!

@Joylene- Good luck with your edits and editor/agent hunt!!

@Jeff- You're right! They'd better!

@Alex- I always suspected you were one of those!

@Julie- Mmmmm DQ!!!!!

@Lynda R. Young- Thanks!!

@Stephanie- I remember one time while editing I stopped to wash my kitchen ceiling!! I was in serious procrastination mode!

@Carol- Glad you don't have to kill me now!

@Elsie- Good luck on your edits. And thanks!

@Crystal- Sounds like a plan!

@Liz- Exactly!
