I've developed a long and harrowing relationship with the stupid spinning beach ball. It's becoming my trigger, like Pavlov's bell. I see that thing and in ten seconds I'm enraged with impatience.
It puts a big damper on my writing as well. It takes literally ten minutes just to open a wip. Then more
I've been backing up my computer daily, which, you guessed it, takes even more time to do now than ever before.
So I'm feeling badly because I haven't been getting out to the blogs I love (see sidebar for all the cool cats to visit). It just takes up so much time that I don't have much of.
To help me chill out and get through, I'm dedicating this song to the swirling beach ball. Enjoy some Funk on this Funky Friday. I hope it takes you into a fantastic weekend.

Computer issues suck, they make me say ummm duck
I'm starting to have similar issues with my desktop computer. And it really does suck. I totally get that whole Pavlov's bell of rage thing you were talking about.
LOL
Poor thing. I hope you find a solution soon. Slow 'puters ain't no fun.
I'm mailing you a giant tack for that ball. *POP* ;)
For heaven's sake - buy a new computer!! If it crashes during a back-up, you might lose both pc and half-copied back-up files. Good luck and save your sanity!
They make me say something that sounds an awful lot like duck too, Pat! lol!
That beach ball is going to die messily at my hands someday soon. Want me to come over and take care of yours too?
And i will use it, Melissa!! Thanks! lol!!
It took me two hours to put up this post, Lexa. That night The Man ordered me a new computer. So it's on its way!! Only ten days to wait!
I really enjoy your blog and feel your pain on computers that don't understand that they need to stay in prime condition always
Thanks, Seth. :)
Last year at this time I invested in a new laptop for me. I couldn't take the long wait times either. I'm very careful to not install or put too much on this. I want it to stay zippy.
Lol. I hate the swirling beach ball. My computer is less then three years old and I have it often. Just means the computer is up for a quick professional clean up.
I hear you on not bogging it down, Sue. Here's hoping the new one can stay clean. :)
That swirling beach ball was going to be the death of me, Lilith! Unfortunately, this guy's battery and power pack are getting really really hot every time I use them. I don't think it will be much longer for this world.
I won't even ask how long it took for you to download the video. Perhaps a computer shopping trip is in store. I had to do that last October. It was no fun.
A long, frickin' time, Carol! lol!! The new computer is on its way. Can't wait!!!
Oh no, the Spinning Beach Ball of Death!!!! I hate that thing! I hope you're able to get a new computer soon - or at least a refurbished one. I suffered for almost a year with a deadly and almost-dead laptop, and no, I didn't have any hair left by the time I got a new one ;)
Sorry about your computer! It definitely sounds like it's time for a new one.
Lol, Liz. The new one's on the way and I can't wait. I miss the internet and all its great bloggy friends and shiny things to distract me!
Thanks, Sherry. Trying to write or post anything takes boatloads of patience that I'm fresh out of!
