Follow Fest at Tongue In Cheek

Hi everybody! I found out about the Follow Fest at the last minute, and couldn't help but join in, even though I've never participated in a blog hop/fest before. Thanks to Melissa Maygrove for coming up with such a great idea! Be sure to check out all the cool authors signed up by clicking the Follow Fest picture above.

Now for the questions.
Name: Ava Quinn

Fiction or nonfiction? Fiction. (Though everything on this blog is true. Except for the stuff that isn't.)

What genres do you write? Contemporary Western Romance.

Are you published? Not Yet.

Do you do anything in addition to writing? I mom, I work with a room full of three year olds 4 days a week, and I write. Did I mention that I mom?

Where can people connect with you?
Here at Tongue in Cheek or at my website avaquinn.com.

Is there anything else you’d like us to know?
I'm currently the president of my local chapter of Romance Writers of America. I ride a motorcycle. I'm the former 'Possum Queen of my county. I battle against the Sea Monkey tribe attempting to take over my bathtub when not trying to convert them to be my minions. And I occasionally find time to write.

Hey Ava...

I'm following your blog, but wondered if you had a Facebook page or twitter acct. Would love to have more than one way to see you around the blogosphere. My blog visiting time is limited, as I use many forms of social interaction. Stop by sometime!

Hey Ava, it's great to meet you. I like the new use of "mom" as a verb :) It SHOULD be one, I think!

Being a mum, one of the toughest jobs in the world. It definitely deserves a double mention. Really pleased to meet you and look forward to getting to know you better.

Milo James Fowler said...

Hey, I write westerns too! Nice to "meet" you.

Charlie Holmberg said...

Ha ha, love your answers and your blog subtitle. :) Nice to meet you!

Nice to meet you! Western Romance sounds like a fun genre. Best of luck with your writing!

I definitely think 'mom' should officially be a verb.

And I really want to read your contemporary western romance.

Thanks, Cathrina! Back atcha in spades! ;)

Hi, Mr. Swift. Thanks so much for following!

Yeah, I need to get a tee shirt that reads, "No, really, I'm not on Facebook". Which I know is insane in this day and age, but I'm stuck living in the 80's with my vinyl record collection and my love of rotary dial phones. Someday, when it's about to go out of style, I'm sure I'll pick then to join.

But I'd love to check you out, I think I'll need to make a google plus acct. I'm on it!

Ava Quinn said...

Thanks, Donna. That Wednesday blog sounds great. I'll have to stop by soon.

Ava Quinn said...

Thanks, Melissa. You had a really great idea! Thanks for spreading the love!

Ava Quinn said...

Thanks, Liz. It's great to meet you too!

Yes, momming is definitely an action verb around Chez Quinn. (VERB- It's what's happening! Gotta love School House Rock.)

Thanks for stopping by and following!

Ava Quinn said...

Thanks, Joss. You sound like you speak from experience, lol!

Ava Quinn said...

Hey, Milo. Very cool.

I just finished reading Cold Dish by Craig Johnson (Yes, I'm late on the bandwagon, but note the mom thing, lol. I was late reading Ready Player One too, but better late than never, especially with those books.)

And I'm a Lamour and Max Brand fan from way back.

Thanks for stopping in!

Ava Quinn said...

Thanks, Charlie! It's great to "meet" you too!

Ava Quinn said...

Hey, Sherry! Thanks! And it's really nice to meet you too.

I definitely like writing about life in the West. My parents live in Montana, so I get to see it first hand sometimes.

Best of luck in your writing too!

Hi Ava, good to meet you through Follow Fest. Good luck with your writing.

Ava Quinn said...

Hey, M.J.! Yes, mom is definitely an official verb at Casa de Quinn.

And thanks for saying you want to read my book. Female pool hustler has a run in with a small town sheriff. Hilariousness and serial killers ensue. (See how easy blurbs are?)

I'm still waiting to get my hands on Effigy. When? WHEN???

Chemist Ken said...

Good to meet you. I'm from up north in Michigan, so we don't have many cowboys up here. And Facebook isn't necessary for an author, as long as you have a good website.

Ava Quinn said...

Hi Christine! It's so nice of you to stop in. Good luck with your writing as well!

Ava Quinn said...

Hey, Chemist Ken. I love your handle. I'm a teacher from way back, and got my masters in science ed., so in my world- science, it be bitchin'!

Thanks for them kind Facebook words. I usually get looked at like I'm a freak when I say that publicly. lol.

Yeah, not a lot of cowboys up by you, but if you go much further north you'll meet up with some crafty Kanucks, eh?

Thanks for stopping in!

Interesting character you are, Ava! It's really nice to meet you here in this blog fest, and I'm gladly follow.

Ava Quinn said...

Thanks, Sara! It's good to be a gnome. Especially when an underground Polka contingency from Eastern Europe took over my blog last year. The Gnome Defense League came to the rescue and thwarted those oom-pah-pahing insurgents.

It's great to meet you too! Good luck on your new book coming out!

Ava Quinn said...

LOL! Thanks Nancy! It's so good of you to notice. I try to keep a low profile, but it just never seems to work!

It's great to meet you, and thanks so much for following!

Guinevere & Libertad Tomas said...

Love the theme for your blog!Hopefully we'll exchange info on publishing advice :) Glad we could connect!

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

I love how you make the word 'mom' a verb. Because it certainly is an action verb.

Ava Quinn said...

Thanks, Guinevere & Libertad! I'm so glad you stopped by. I'm always up for learning something new, especially about writing and publishing.

Ava Quinn said...

Thanks, Sue! You know twice as well as I do that it's a verb considering you are a mom to twice as many children than me! :)

Jennifer J. Chow said...

Good luck with your writing, Ava! It's so good to meet you. I hear you about the mom-ing. I can't believe you have energy to work with a roomful of three-year-olds, too.

Possum Queen? How fun is that!! Thanks for stopping by my blog, Ava! I look forward to keeping up with you and your writing!

lgkelso said...

Yay for motorcycles! I ride dirtbikes, different than a streetbike but a similar passion, I think.

Ava Quinn said...

Hi Ashley, welcome to my trailerhood, where the screen door always has a hole in it and the opossum is cooked rare on the grill.

Just kidding, all part of that tongue in cheek thing. I'm glad you stopped in!

Ava Quinn said...

Absolutely similar, Igkelso! I ride a Ninja, but I've never ridden a dirtbike. I'm really glad to meet another female rider. It seems like we're few and far between. :)

Hi, Ava - anyone who 'moms' in addition to being the Possum Queen is too awesome for words. And after reading your post I'm chuckling. I've 'added' you (and will enjoy reading what you have to say!)

Thanks, Diana. Yes, things get a little crazy over here. Kind of like a clown-car wreck.
